ABOUT

Come join Tanawha Adventures and Nike athlete Sally McRae for an epic five-day Pacific Northwest trail running experience in the shadow of Mt Hood.  Based out of Mt Hood Kiwanis Camp, runs will take you through lush forest, past stunning vistas, and rushing waterfalls.  A typical day will start with a healthy, locally sourced, breakfast and a short pre-run meeting. Each run will be approximately 8-11 miles in length with anywhere between 1,000 - 2,500 ft of elevation gain over varied terrain.  The afternoons will include a variety of activities including: workshops, site seeing, and relaxing at camp.  Exciting evening activities will include special events, camp fires, beer, and dining together at some of the best restaurants/breweries in Portland and the surrounding area.

Is This Camp a Good Fit For Me?

  • Trail runners of varying abilities are welcome to the camp.

  • Pacers/Guides are provided for each run to accommodate varying paces; however, this is NOT a hiking camp. If you're still unsure about pace, please contact us directly and we can help you decide.

  • This is not a "Hell Week" style fitness camp; however, we would like you to arrive to camp ready to run 8-11 miles each day with roughly 1000-2000 feet of gain.

  • Please do not arrive injured out of respect for yourself and others.

  • Our goal for each run is to show you some of the most beautiful trails around Mt Hood. You can expect varying terrain; rocky and smooth terrain, single-track, mud, jaw-dropping views, and much more!

  • Camp sits at roughly 2500 feet and most of our runs will be spent between an elevation of 3500-5500 feet. You might feel slightly affected by the thinner air.

Arrival and Departure

Check in at camp is from 12 - 3pm on Wednesday, TBD. Runners can fly into Port Airport and a complimentary shuttle from the airport to camp will run at 1pm. Please plan your flights accordingly. Runs and all other activities will begin at 4pm on Wednesday and wrap up Sunday morning. Runners can plan to fly out the afternoon of Sunday, with shuttles from camp to the airport leaving at 11am and 2pm.

Meals

A healthy breakfast bar each morning, gourmet picnic lunches, and evening dinners out on the town are all provided. In addition, cabins will be stocked with snacks, beer, waters, and hydrating beverages in the kitchen.

Lodging

Our base will be at beautiful Mt Hood Kiwanis Camp in Rhododendron, OR.  This is cabin style lodging with up to one roommate in a comfortable room with bed linens and towels provided. The lodge is designed with common bath facilities, kitchen and lounge space.
